Application Process

Stage 1

By the deadline, submit an online application for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program you’re interested in. Indicate in the application’s Financial Support Requirement section that you have applied for or intend to apply for a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council.

You will automatically be considered for the CSC – University of Melbourne PhD Scholarship and the Graduate Research Scholarships after submitting your PhD application.

Stage 2

In the event that the University extends an offer to you for both a Ph.D. position and a tuition fee scholarship as part of the China Scholarship Council – University of Melbourne Ph.D. Scholarship, you will need to apply separately to the CSC in order to be eligible for the scholarship’s living allowance benefit.

• Seek approval to submit a scholarship application to the CSC from either your university in China or from the nearest Consulate of the People’s Republic of China if you are currently living outside the Chinese mainland.
• Apply directly to the CSC for a living allowance scholarship to support you while undertaking the PhD at the University of Melbourne. You should follow the CSC guidelines and apply online for the living allowance scholarship through the Agreements Channel. The CSC application period usually opens around 10 March and closes on 31 March.
