Lists of best car insurance companies

In the US, driving a car is legally required if you have car insurance, and for good reason. They offer you financial protection in the event of an accident, which is important if something unfortunate occurs. However, not all auto insurance providers are created equal, which is why we took the time to list ten of the top auto insurance providers in the US.

We compared the typical premiums for different types of drivers, the coverage options, the number of complaints received, the grades given by experts in auto body repair for collision claims, and the clarity of the insurers’ websites. These companies will give you the coverage you require, won’t cause you a lot of hassle when you need them, and won’t take advantage of you with outrageous charges.

Note that, this is not a sponsored article, all car insurance companies listed below are based on the top-performing ones in the United States today.

Nationwide

For specific types of drivers and a variety of add-on coverages, Nationwide offers reasonable rates for auto insurance. It is firm to look into if you’re looking for auto insurance because the number of complaints against it for that coverage is relatively low. Notably, Nationwide provides drivers who wish to perhaps cut their rates based on actual driving with both a usage-based insurance scheme and a pay-per-mile option.

Since our 2021 analysis, Nationwide has climbed two positions and is now tied for third place. Nationwide receives above-average scores in all of the sub-rating categories and ranks second in our Customer Loyalty and Most Likely to be Recommended sub ratings. Additionally, some drivers, particularly those with a clean driving record or bad credit, might get rates from Nationwide that are below average.
