- You will be required to select the type of scholarship based on its funding (A, B, or C) and the number of approved agencies or universities (a code that you will obtain on the internet or that will be provided by the university, you have selected) at the beginning of the online application form.
- After filling out the Chinese Government Scholarship online application completely, you need to upload the necessary PDF files (a list is provided below).
- After submission of your online Chinese Government Scholarship application, download this application.
- Select the Chinese University and Course here.
- Make sure you ascertain whether the Chinese university of your choosing needs an online application for admission in addition to the Chinese Government Scholarship application.
- If the university requires an online application, please complete this application on its website and attach your Chinese Government Scholarship application.
- Prepare two sets of documentation (see list below) and mail them to the university’s address.

Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of the Kingdom of Tonga, and be in good health both mentally and physically.
- Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.
- Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs.
- Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.
- Be a high school graduate (at least) under the age of 45 when applying for general scholar programs.
- Be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.
- Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught undergraduate or general scholar programs (studying the Chinese language is exempted).
- Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught senior scholar programs.
- Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinese-taught master’s or doctoral programs.
- Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency, and other relevant cafeterias.
