Today I will be sharing with you on different types of gas welding and its applications. Previously I enlighten on what is gas welding, its advantages and disadvantages.

Types of gas welding process

There are several different types of gas welding. They are tools that uses combustible, free floating substances to produce a focus flame. The following explain below are gas welding types;

Oxy-acetylene welding

In these types of gas welding, two gaseous are channel to a welding containing a mixing chamber, helping to mix the gases and produces flame. Oxy-acetylene welding have two cylinders containing acetylene and oxygen gas on each of them. These gases flow in different indicated hoses to the torch. It is common and most use gas welding techniques. It produces highest flame temperature of all fuel gases. However, high cost of acetylene makes other technique better.

Types of gas welding process

Oxy-gasoline welding

Oxy-gasoline welding is implied when acetylene canisters are not available and serves as fuel were fabrication cost is an issue. Torch use in these types of welding is more effective than oxy-acetylene when cutting thick steel plates. Pressure can be pump manually by hand from the cylinder, making pressure level to be control.

MAPP Gas welding

MAPP is an abbreviation of methylacetylene-propadine-petroleum. It is a mixture of gases with more inert than other gas mixture, making it safe for operators. Just oxy-gasoline, MAPP can also be use at very high pressure, which makes it useful in cutting operation. However, due to flowing of hydrogen in mixtures, gaseous medium is unsuitable for joining steel.

Propane/butane Gas welding

Propane and butane are similar gases that can be mix or use alone to produce flame. It is less expensive and easier to transport. Propane torches are suitable for soldering, bending, and heating. But it offers lower flame than acetylene. In these types of gas welding, propane requires different torch tip for different operations.

Hydrogen welding

Hydrogen welding uses higher pressure than any other fuel gases, which makes it useful for under water welding. Most hydrogen welding equipment works on electrolysis. It is achieved by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen.
