You make yourself and the earth real when your foot meets the ground with consciousness. You also temporarily forget the searching, hurrying, and desire that deprive our everyday lives of awareness and lead us to “sleepwalk” through life.

About the Author

A well-known spiritual instructor and peace campaigner was Thich Nhat Hanh. He became a Zen Buddhist monk at the age of sixteen after being born in Vietnam in 1926. He wrote more than 100 books throughout his 70 years as a teacher, and in the US alone, they have sold over four million copies.

His lectures on Buddhism as a means of achieving social and political change led to his exile from Vietnam in 1966 for advocating peace, and it is his teachings that introduced the mindfulness movement to Western society.

He founded the global Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism in France, which is currently the biggest Buddhist monastery in Europe and the hub of an expanding global network of mindfulness practice centres. At the age of 95, he died in 2022 in his Hue, Vietnam, root temple, Tu Hieu.

Review

The Mindfulness Essentials has been included on the New York Times extended bestseller list, the Boston Globe bestseller list, the San Francisco Chronicle bestseller list, the NPR bestseller list, and the LA Times bestseller list.

Thich Nhat Hanh is a holy man because he is pious and modest. He is a scholar with a vast amount of intelligence. If his peaceful intentions were implemented, they would create a monument to humanity, ecumenism, and universal brotherhood.

This book will, in short, alter your perspective on the proper way to walk! Walking is an amazing meditation and love exercise that lets you stay on the right side of your brain, connect to the present, and investigate everything in peace. It’s been amazing for me to walk in this present-moment meditation for the past week! I really suggest this book to everyone, without exception!

Second Review

Initially, I purchased “How to Relax” and adored the little book that I could carry in my purse. How to Sit and How to Walk were the next steps. It is convenient to dip into when you’re feeling anxious, and it’s a handy size to read a page or two while you’re waiting or on the bus, tube, etc.

While I’m still a long way from being calm, I’m making a conscious effort to focus on my breathing and return to the present more frequently, and I want to truly stick with it. There is a calming impact by just glancing at the small pictures. I find that the lovely, straightforward approach works great because some of the heavy-duty books actually make me feel more stressed.
