About the Author

One of the world’s most renowned and significant spiritual teachers was the Vietnamese Buddhist Zen Master, poet, and peace campaigner Thich Nhat Hanh (1926–2022). He was born in 1926 and, at sixteen, became a Zen Buddhist monk.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967 because of his efforts to promote peace and reconciliation during the Vietnam War. Thich Nhat Hanh established the School of Youth for Social Service, a corps of Buddhist peace workers, and Van Hanh Buddhist University in Vietnam.

He maintained his humanitarian activities while in exile, saving boat people and assisting in the resettlement of refugees as a result of his efforts for peace. He founded Plum Village France in 1982, which is the centre of the global Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism and the biggest Buddhist monastery in Europe.

In addition to teaching for seven decades, he wrote a hundred books that have sold millions of copies worldwide and been translated into over forty languages.
