Review

First of all, whoever gave this a low rating either didn’t read it or read it with a narrow perspective simply to argue against it.

Much of what you already know but don’t or try not to consider is presented in the book.

I have a bar and refrigerator in my dining room, and I used to drink all weekend long, consuming at least a pitcher of beer every night (and sometimes much more). I’m forty years old, and drinking has become a bigger part of my life.

Going totally dry every January is something I have done for more than five years—possibly to persuade myself I didn’t have a problem. Doing it has been harder every year. Every year, the month feels longer, and I’ve been anticipating February 1st from day one in order to enjoy my first beer.

For a long time, I’ve understood that I need to reduce or quit drinking entirely. Although I was somewhat in control of my drinking, it was still an issue.

Somewhere on the internet A few months ago, I came upon a blog post discussing Alcoholics Anonymous. Although I’ve never been a fan of AA, I was sent there after a DUI because I couldn’t stomach the bullshit that the “old timers” told me.

For me, it was less about anything that could actually help me stop drinking and more about a free therapy session for heavy drinkers. I was also murdered by the smoke.

It was nearly hard to locate AA meetings that did not allow smoking. Once more, I’m not criticising it for everyone; it simply wasn’t right for me, but it could work for you. In any case, I came across someone discussing their drinking and attending AA online. One commenter simply stated, “Read Allen Carr’s easy way if you truly want to stop drinking.”

After reading these same evaluations, I became intrigued and decided to buy it. I didn’t think reading a book on this would transform my life. However, I was curious to know what it was about.

I got to work on it as soon as it came. In hindsight, nothing remarkable happened here, but I mysteriously stopped craving alcohol altogether. I got home for the first time in years, glanced at the refrigerator, and walked right by it. I was wondering how I hadn’t realised it all these years because his words made so much sense to me. I wanted to drink less the more it made sense.

There was a lot of excitement in January to get to February after years of drinking. I was waiting to come home from work so I could start drinking. I’m going to my kids’ football and baseball games in the hopes that they’ll be short so I can rush home to my beloved kegerator!

Refraining from attending classes or taking vacations that would interfere with drinking (all of my trips were all-inclusive, so I was able to drink copiously). identifying pals who could drink with me and keeping the majority of those who couldn’t.

In around 100 pages of reading, all of those wonderful drinking years and qualities were erased. Something I didn’t truly believe was possible. The nicest aspect is that I don’t want to handle the items. The problem disappears when the desire disappears. This morning, I paused to look at my bar and decided that I should sell it rather than come up with a cocktail. The generator will suffer the same fate.

In summary, this book is excellent and effective. I’ve passed a number of important tests. My pals were all drinking at the Halloween party. I was nowhere near it.

It’s not an all-inclusive trip that I have planned. While there, I’ll earn my scuba certification. I’ve wanted to do it for a while, but it would have interfered with my drinking time because it took up three whole days. Not right now!

I am currently on my second month. Three months ago, this would have been unthinkable. I was questioned why I wasn’t drinking by my brother. I informed him that I’m finished because of a book. He read it after asking to borrow it, and he hasn’t had any alcohol for more than a month.

I have so much to say about this book. It’s fantastic!

Purchase it and resume your life.

*UPDATE* I’ve been reading the Easy Way for more than a year. Let me tell you the truth. I’ve had a few drinks. I sold my generator and bar. Seeing those depart wasn’t depressing. Throughout 2010, I did have a few drinks on July 4th, Halloween, and a trip to Cancun.

During those few occasions, I drank far less, and I had no trouble abstaining from alcohol afterwards. Without considering alcohol at all, the months simply slide away. It’s fantastic. This is my real freedom! Shall I have another drink? I don’t give it much thought, although maybe occasionally.

*UPDATE 2* December 15, 2013
Whoa, has four years passed already? I decided to provide everyone an update on my review and share my progress. I’ll tell it how it is. This year, I have consumed more alcohol than I have in the previous three years combined, while it is still far less than I did before Easy Way.

I discovered that the simple way’s ideas had grown a little hazy. I’m far from drinking every night and don’t get intoxicated like I used to, but I just realised that I only drink a few times a month.

I suppose we’re back on the sluggish slidedown. I felt like #$%@ when I woke up from last weekend and attempted to figure out how I got here again. After taking out my copy of Easy Way and reading it, I exclaimed, “DOH!”

By page 100, I was saying, “Enough of this!” It was just as enjoyable to read as the first time. Don’t drink any more! I’ve definitely saved around $10,000 over the past four years because to the cost of this book. Without taking into account my health, I would say that was the finest purchase I have ever made.

Did I mention that I was 6’2″ and 310 pounds when I first read Easy Way? After giving up alcohol, I fell to 260 after a year and a half. For the past four years, I have remained constant at 260 (without dieting or exercising). Easy Way also healed those nacho plates at 12:00 am after a night of drinking!
