About the Author
The New York Times bestseller The Four Agreements, The Four Agreements Companion Book, The Mastery of Love, The Voice of Knowledge, The Circle of Fire, and The Fifth Agreement were all written by Don Miguel Ruiz.
The most famous aspect of Ruiz’s teachings is his ability to simplify difficult human problems into straightforward common sense; this skill has brought him millions of admirers and recognition around the globe.
From the time he was able to talk, Don Jose Ruiz was apprenticed to his father, Don Miguel Ruiz, who was a nagual (shaman). When he was twenty-three, he became the heir apparent to the family line, having studied in India as a youngster with his father’s acquaintances.
Don Jose has made it his life’s work to spread the wisdom of the ancient Toltec people, following in the footsteps of his predecessors. He gives talks and teaches seminars at places of worship all around the United States and the world.
In addition to being the founder and president of Amber-Allen Publishing, Janet Mills co-authored six volumes in the Toltec Wisdom Series with Don Miguel Ruiz. In addition, Mills wrote the online course “The Four Agreements for a Better Life,” edited the best-selling book “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Chopra, and published Jane Roberts’s acclaimed “Seth Books.

Review
In the tradition of Castaneda, Ruiz encapsulates fundamental Toltec knowledge, articulating with precision and clarity what it means for men and women to live as nonviolent warriors in the contemporary world.” The author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Dan Millman
The strength of doubt and the power of symbols are the main topics of the book The Fifth Agreement. Be perfect with your word, don’t take things personally, don’t assume anything, always try your hardest, and be cautious but learn to listen are the five agreements.
The writers stress that all we know is reflected in our interpretation of symbol meanings, which may not always reflect what is real but rather what we think. We must acknowledge that we could hold false beliefs and challenge everything in order to discover the genuine meaning of things if we are to become truly masters of ourselves.
The book highlights a number of quotes, such as the value of awareness in achieving self-mastery, the control of attention, the power of doubt, the challenge of every message delivered to oneself.
The fact that all of our knowledge is nothing more than symbolism or words that we invent for the need to understand and express what we perceive, the sacrifice of personal freedom to live according to someone else’s point of view, and the fact that practicing the fifth agreement results in complete acceptance of oneself and others.
Even if none of the five agreements are perfect, knowing about them encourages us to be more thoughtful and to challenge some of our beliefs and self-doubt.

Summary
The enormous difficulty that comes with achieving tremendous success is one of the main reasons we are all so terrified of it: how do you follow up on it? After you sell your business, write a best-selling book, or get a big-budget film smash, people will want you to do it better. That’s a lot of strain.
I suppose that’s why Don Miguel Ruiz didn’t do anything with his book The Four Agreements for more than ten years. Because six million copies sold and eight years of bestseller status are impossible to surpass. However, he and his son, Don Jose Ruiz, co-wrote an update and sequel in 2009 rather than merely publishing an updated version. The Fifth Agreement is its name.
