What is centrifugal casting? – its Advantages and Disadvantages

Several articles have been published on metal casting process, which I have extensively explain them. Today I’ll be discussing on what is centrifugal casting?, its advantages and disadvantages etc.

Here is some list of articles published on metal casting process

First of all, you need to know the meaning of centrifugal casting. the question is,

What is centrifugal casting?

Centrifugal casting process is a type metal casting process in which molten metal is poured into a continuous rotating mold, thrown outward from center with a centrifugal force. It is designed to vertically or horizontally rotate, depending on the type of casting. horizontal type of centrifugal casting is implied when producing thin cylinder parts. While vertically mounted machine is used in producing automotive smaller parts.

What is centrifugal casting?

Advantages of centrifugal casting

Centrifugal casting has several advantages over other metal casting process. it allows mass production of symmetrical product at lower cost. It does not rely on gate and risers, making its offers high production rate. Unlike sand casting, where gate and risers must be employed for proper flow of the molten metal. One of the most advantages of is that; it helps to get rid of defects such as blow holes, shrinkage cavity and gas pocket. Due to the collection of impurities at the center of the mold. Impurities are easily removed in this type casting than any other manufacturing process. it also helps economically in terms of low capital. Which allows enough flexibility to produce various size and shape of a part. It offers good advantages as it save time and energy. It requires less temperature of molten metal. It also provides less dense metal with mechanical soundness.

Disadvantages

Despite the benefit of centrifugal casting, it has some disadvantages to its applications. The followings are the disadvantages of centrifugal casting process.

  1. Incorrect diameter in the inner part of the casting
  2. High investment is need in tools and machinery
  3. More skilled labors are needed for the process
  4. Not all type of metal or alloys are compatible with the process
  5. The process can produce few shapes.

And that is for this article. I hopefully believe knowledge is attain. You can ask any question via my comment box, and please show me love by sharing on your social media platform. Thanks!

Somebody necessarily lend a hand to make critically posts I’d state.
That is the first time I frequented your web page and
up to now? I surprised with the research you made to make this actual post incredible.
    Magnificent process!
